The best practices used in programming efforts:

Adult Programming

  • Information Services staff is empowered to be creative in both ideas and scheduling.
  • Use the library's technical applications to market programming ideas outside our four walls.
  • Market programs at the JAM desk.
  • As a way of staff development, community enrichment and goal setting, encourage circulation staff to create programs that represent their interests, such as computer training and language classes.
  • Distribute flyers to businesses and other community services when applicable.
  • Take an annual survey and implement patron suggestions when possible.
  • Open to trying new programs.
  • Allow new programs some time to develop an audience.
  • Meet deadlines for E.vents so our programs can make it into CiO.
  • Post promotion flyers in a central location to avoid information overload.
  • Plan programs at least six months to one year ahead.
  • Brainstorm with staff on the best way to market programs.
  • Display areas are changed frequently to promote something new.
